Sisaket (sometimes spelt Si Sa Ket) is located in the north east region of the country. Neighbouring provinces are Roi Et, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon. To the south it also has a border with Oddar Meancheay and Preah Vihear of Cambodia. The province is located in the valley of the river Mun which is a tributary of the Mekong river. To the south the border with Cambodia is marked by a mountain chain The area is rich in Khmer history and the provincial seal shows the Prasat Hin Ban Samo, a Khmer temple which is about 1000 years old and can be found in the Prang Ku district. A significant proportion of local population are bilingual being able to speak both Khmer and Thai.
