Ratchaburi is located in the western region of the country. Neighbouring provinces are Kanchanaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Phetchaburi , Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram.. It also has a border with the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar. Ratchaburi translates as "The Land of the King" and the province has many places of cultural and historical interest. The eastern part of the province consists of the river plains of the Mae Klong river, and is crisscrossed by many khlongs. One of the most famous tourist spots is the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak which are a popular day trip for tourists from Bangkok. The west of the province is mostly limestone mountains where there are several caves that are home to large colonies of bats. It is an impressive sight to see them swarming out in the evening to feed.
