Thailand a Rough Guide for the Smart Investor

Thailand is my big hot tip right now, and for the next 5 years as well. The friendly and laid back Buddhist nationals, 'always summer' climate, amazing coastline, exciting kitchen, rich history and comparatively low cost of living are all factors in Thailand's rapidly growing popularity with tourists and homebuyers from all over the world.
Property in Thailand has traditionally been purchased by expats seeking 2nd or holiday homes near to super beaches, and just a short plane ride from their financial centres (HK, Sing, China, KL, etc). Initially this type of purchase was more a lifestyle choice, yet the blossoming demand for good properties has generated exceptional increases in house and land values.
So buying a house on one of these islands now is much less about 'living the dream' and much more about making a seriously lucrative investment. The shift in status from a cute place to have a holiday villa, to one of the most promising places in the world to be investing in has not taken long to come about. The last few years have seen substantial changes, and the signs are there - fund managers are now buying into projects, based upon economics rather than sea views.
